Privacy
The short version: we hold as little as we can get away with.
Refund cases
We store your case on our server: what you told us about the stay, the booking details we read out of it, and the letters we drafted from them. It has to be stored — the campaign runs for six weeks, and a browser tab does not last six weeks. If you give us an email address to claim the case, we hold that too, and use it only to send you the letters for that campaign.
The case is deleted when you mark it resolved or cancelled. A case you never claim with an email address is deleted automatically after thirty days. Nobody without your private case link can read it, and we do not sell, share or mine any of it.
What we do hold
If you submit an account to the Wall of Shame, we store what you send: the account itself, and the establishment, city, first name and email if you provide them. Your email is used only to tell you whether your entry ran. We never publish surnames.
If you unlock the letter templates on a guide, we keep the email address you used, so we can tell you when we publish a new template. Nothing else is attached to it.
Processing by others
Text you submit to the Roast Desk, the Refund Desk or the Wall of Shame is sent to Anthropic's API to be screened and written up. The site is hosted by Vercel, which keeps standard server logs including IP addresses. Links in our Stay Somewhere Decent module go to third-party booking partners who set their own cookies once you arrive; we may earn a commission from bookings made through them.
Analytics
We run no analytics and no advertising trackers at all. Our host, Vercel, keeps standard server logs including IP addresses, which is the only record that a visit happened.
Your rights
Use our contact form and we will tell you what we hold about you, correct it, or delete it. If you asked us to publish something and change your mind, say so and we will take it down.
Please do not send us other people's data
Our screening rejects submissions containing named individuals, contact details, booking credentials or card numbers. Redact before you paste.
